What is a Drug Court?

Drug Courts are problem-solving courts that take a public health approach using a specialized model in which the judiciary, prosecution, defense bar, probation, law enforcement, mental health, social service and treatment communities work together to help addicted offenders into long-term recovery. A team approach is utilized to reduce illegal drug use and criminal activity among participants in Drug Court.

What does a Drug Court Do?

They are the most effective justice intervention for treating drug-addicted people. Drug Courts reduce drug use. Drug Courts reduce crime. Drug Courts save money. Drug Courts restore lives. Drug Courts save children and reunite families.

Who is Eligible for Drug Court?

The LaGrange County Drug Court is an adult criminal Drug Court, which functions within the adult criminal justice system and targets adult offenders who are at high risk to re-offend. Individuals with a pending criminal charge that involves the use or threat of force against another will not be considered for Drug Court, nor may they have a history of violence.

What Benefit do I receive if I Graduate From Drug Court?

Participants that successfully complete all four phases of the program will either have their charges dismissed or will receive a lesser conviction with no jail time. A formal graduation ceremony is held with family and friends in attendance.
